Located in the heart of Tequesta, Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery & School of Art has been a creative cornerstone of northern Palm Beach County since 1964. Founded by eight visionary artists and Christopher Norton, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is dedicated to bringing the joy of visual art to all. What began as a small community effort has grown into a vibrant, three-building campus that includes a Gallery & 2D Studio, a 3D Studio, and a dedicated Jewelry & Textile Studio. Lighthouse ArtCenter’s mission is simple yet powerful: to inspire imagination, provide engaging artistic experiences, and nurture artists of all ages and abilities.

Through dynamic exhibitions, year-round classes, and free outreach programs, the ArtCenter serves more than 20,000 visitors and 4,000 students annually. With a faculty of 45 professional teaching artists and a comprehensive outreach initiative benefiting underserved youth, veterans, and individuals with special needs, Lighthouse ArtCenter is committed to ensuring that art is accessible to everyone in our community. Families will find a wide range of opportunities for children, teens, and adults to explore their creativity. From beginner drawing and painting to ceramics, jewelry design, textiles, and mixed media, classes are designed to meet students at their individual skill level. Small class sizes and hands-on instruction allow each artist to grow in confidence while developing technical skills in a supportive environment.

Throughout the year, the Gallery presents inspiring exhibitions featuring nationally recognized artists, local talent, and student showcases—creating an immersive experience where learning and inspiration go hand in hand.

One of the most anticipated programs for local families is Lighthouse ArtCenter’s annual Summer ArtCamp. Running for eight weeks from June 1 through July 31, ArtCamp offers in-person creative fun for children ages 5–11, along with specialized teen workshops for ages 12–16. Each week introduces campers to new themes and in-depth projects that may include drawing, painting, printmaking, animation, or sculpture. This rotating weekly format allows students to explore a variety of mediums while developing their own artistic voice. Campers experiment with materials such as clay, pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils, markers, crayons, tempera, watercolor, acrylic paints, and even 3D printers.

Projects are thoughtfully designed so children can create at their own developmental level, ensuring both beginners and more experienced young artists feel challenged and inspired. Under the guidance of professional teaching artists, campers build skills, make new friends, and leave each week with artwork they are proud to share.

Whether visiting the Gallery, enrolling in a class, or joining Summer ArtCamp, families will discover that Lighthouse ArtCenter is more than an art school—it is a welcoming cultural destination where creativity is celebrated as a vital part of everyday life.
